Tristan Jarry made 12 saves before leaving the game with an undisclosed injury with 3:52 remaining in the second period. Calvin Pickard stopped all 12 shots he faced in relief.
“Not sure how serious it is. No updates,” Knoblauch said.
Pavel Zacha scored the lone goal for the Bruins (20-15-0), who have lost two of three. Jeremy Swayman made 22 saves.
“I thought it could have gone either way,” Swayman said. “We put together a good 5-on-5 game tonight, so it’s something to build off moving forward.”
Nugent-Hopkins gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead at 13:38 of the first period with a power-play goal. He chipped in a backdoor pass from McDavid, who was along the goal line, over Swayman’s right pad at the left post.
“When things are going well you want to make sure they continue to go well,” Oilers forward Zach Hyman said of the power play. “We obviously have a lot of different looks we can go to, and it’s nice we’re getting the opportunities, too.”
Zacha tied it 1-1 with his own power-play goal at 16:27. After passing to Elias Lindholm in the neutral zone, Zacha kept skating down the middle of the ice, where he received a return pass before roofing a backhand under the crossbar.
“We were a little dead out there,” Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm said. “We have to keep playing in such a tight game. We get one goal and it could’ve been anyone’s game, and that’s something we can learn moving forward.”
Hutson, who was recalled from Bakersfield of the American Hockey League on Monday, put the Oilers in front 2-1 at 14:38 of the second period. He collected the rebound of Jones’ shot from the right circle and slid a backhand under the stick of Swayman.
“Yeah, it was pretty cool,” said Hutson, who played collegiately at Boston University. “I’ve had some cool goals in this rink, but that was definitely the coolest, so it’s great. … I was part of the forecheck, it bounced out and I just went to the net. I thought he got a stick on it, and I watched it barely go in, but it was nice to see it go.”
