VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova men’s lacrosse announced a quartet of captains on Friday afternoon, with head coach Mike Corrado revealing a trio of repeat leaders in addition to one new captain. This year’s leadership group consists of David Evanchick, Nick Lucchesi, Luke Raymond and Jack Shoemaker.

Raymond is one of the repeat selections and the oldest member of the group, returning to the Main Line for his fifth year. The versatile offensive weapon has accumulated nearly 60 points in over 45 games with the Wildcats mainly out of the midfield, including a career-high 23 points in 15 starts a year ago. He finished out his senior year with an All-Tournament nod at last season’s BIG EAST Championship after a hat trick in the semifinal round.

Evanchick also repeats with team captain duties as a key defensive contributor for the ‘Cats, beginning his career with 15 starts as a freshman before 33 ground balls and nine caused turnovers as a sophomore. The senior defenseman started in the first two games last year before missing the rest of the season with injury, but will look to anchor the VU back line yet again.

Fellow defender Shoemaker rounds out the repeats after a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST selection in 2025, causing 17 turnovers to move himself into the program’s top 10 for the category. The Los Angeles native has appeared in all 46 games since his arrival on campus, putting up a career-high 41 ground balls as a sophomore and aiming to fortify the Wildcats’ defensive unit for a fourth straight year in 2026.

Lucchesi is the lone newcomer to the captaincy as well as the only junior to earn the nod this year. The Radnor High graduate has been highly productive in his two years leading the midfield group, scoring 32 goals in his career to this point. Lucchesi joins Raymond as the two offensive captains, aiming to spearhead VU’s goal-scoring group that’s looking to stabilize after the graduation of leading scorer Matt Licata.

Raymond, Evanchick, Shoemaker, Lucchesi and the Wildcats will begin the bid to return to the BIG EAST title game in February, lifting the lid on the season with a visit to Penn State on Feb. 7.
