Strava fired an employee after she went very viral on social media this week.

Shireen Afkari was filmed Saturday yelling at and physically assaulting staff at San Francisco’s celebrity restaurant Hazie’s. The explosive footage filmed by a witness of the incident has amassed millions of views across several platforms.

Strava confirmed Thursday in an Instagram post promoting its recent “Trend Report” that it had axed Afkari.

“We are aware of an employee who exhibited extremely concerning off-hours behavior. We don’t condone violence of any kind and this does not reflect the standards we expect of our team,” reads the comment.

“This past Monday, we made the decision to end the individual’s employment.”

The website SF Gate reported that Afkari had been working as senior manager of growth marketing at the San Francisco-based fitness app Strava.

According to SF Gate, the incident began at around 9.30 p.m. on Saturday when Afkari and her partner began abusing employees at the restaurant of celebrity chef Joey Altman.

Afkari began berating staff when management refused to serve the couple on suspicion of intoxication.

Footage shows Afkari initially yelling at Hazie’s workers and filming them on her mobile. The situation then escalates to a point where she begins swinging at and grappling with the bartenders and servers.

Afkari continues the wrestling after she and her partner are hauled out of the busy restaurant.

“She’s kicking me all over,” Hazie’s bartender Miguel Marchese told SF Gate.

“Then she ends up wrapping my hair around her hand. She weaves it around her hand quite tightly, and she pulls on it for dear life. So that was quite a predicament to be stuck in.”

KRON-TV reported Afkari was eventually arrested by the San Francisco Police Department on suspicion of public intoxication and taken to the county jail.

Staff at Hazie’s do not plan to press charges.

Velo reached out to Strava for comment on Thursday but has not yet received a reply.
