Violent semi-truck crash on NB 5 Freeway in Pacoima leaves 1 dead; several lanes briefly closed

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Several lanes of the 5 Freeway in Pacoima were shut down early Sunday morning after a fiery crash involving a semi-truck left one person dead.

The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. on the northbound lanes near Osbourne Street.

Details are limited, but the California Highway Patrol said a car and a semi-truck collided, setting one of the vehicles on fire. One person was killed, though it’s unclear if that person was in the car or the semi-truck.

The freeway reopened around 8:15 a.m.
