Some Kia and Hyundai owners are eligible for payback and protection

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -Today, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced some Kia and Hyundai owners are eligible for free anti-theft protection and money back because of a multistate settlement with the automakers.

Owners of the cars were targeted by thieves who used the internet to discover how easy it was to steal certain Kias and Hyundais.

According to Yost eligible owners could receive:

  • Free installation of a zinc-reinforced ignition cylinder protector for affected vehicles.
  • Restitution for certain expenses related to a theft or an attempted theft if a vehicle was stolen or targeted on or after April 29, 2025.

If you qualify, you will be contacted by the automaker and have a year to schedule the upgrade, or you can find more information at their websites.
