After a Deadly Wildfire, Christmas Tree Lane Endures in Altadena

Over 10 Saturday mornings beginning in September, volunteers inspected hundreds of strands of lights and, using a low-tech system of pulleys and ropes, hung them from the branches. This year, Disney donated $100,000 to replace burnt strands and other infrastructure.
Indie Roffman, 13, came to help after moving back this fall into her home, which had been contaminated by smoke, about a block away. The festivities were an escape. “We get to forget all about the fires,” she said.
