Chicago shootings: At least 7 shot, 1 fatally, in Christmas gun violence, police department says

CHICAGO (WLS) — At least seven people have been shot, one fatally, in Christmas night shootings, Chicago police said.

A man was shot and killed at about 10:11 p.m. in the 7400-block of S. Cottage Grove Avenue, police said.
CPD said the victim was in his 30s and was found on the ground in the Park Manor neighborhood. He had been shot in the back and to the right armpit. He died at University of Chicago Hospital.
At about 11 p.m. on Thursday night, a 37-year-old man was shot during an argument in the 300-block of W. Marquette Road, Chicago police said.
Police said the victim was shot multiple times and was taken to the University of Chicago hospital where he was in critical condition.
A teenager was shot while walking in the South Chicago neighborhood at about 12:29 a.m. in the 2900 block of E. 91st Street, police said.
A 15-year-old boy was approached by a group, when somebody pulled out a gun and started shooting.
The victim was shot in the right leg; police said he was expected to be OK.

A 17-year-old was shot on the city’s North Side at about 1 a.m. in the 5700-block of N. Rockwell Street, police said.
The teenager was outside when he heard shots fired and felt pain. Police said he was shot in the inner left thigh and self-transported to an area hospital; he is expected to be OK.
On the city’s South Side, a 36-year-old man was shot in the abdomen at about 2 a.m. in the 7300-block of S. Stewart Avenue, police said.
Police said the victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK. No other information regarding the shooting was available.
At about 3:10 a.m. police said a man was critically injured in a shooting in the 6300-block of S. Dorchester Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

A 31-year-old man was walking when a group approached in a silver car. Two suspects got out of the car and began shooting before driving off.
The victim was shot in the back and rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
At about 3 a.m. a 30-year-old man waled into the University of Chicago hospital on 56th Street a gunshot graze to the right thigh, police said.
The man did not say where the shooting happened; he is expected to be OK.
Nobody is in custody.
