MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after a crash early Friday morning on an East Valley freeway.

Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers responded to the reported one-vehicle crash around 5:10 a.m. on the U.S. 60 near Signal Butte Road.

A DPS spokesperson told Arizona’s Family that a 1999 maroon Chevy SUV rolled off the freeway for an unknown reason. One person was partially ejected from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene.

Two other people in the SUV were taken to the hospital, DPS said.

Traffic was restricted on eastbound U.S. 60 as troopers worked to clear the scene. The freeway was reopened around 7:30 a.m.
