Roanoke family sues airlines after allegedly being attacked by bed bugs during flight

ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) — A Roanoke family is suing two airline companies, alleging the entire family was bitten by bed bugs during their flight.
According to the lawsuit, the Albuquerque family is suing Delta Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for $200,000 after an incident involving bed bugs ruined their family vacation.
The Albuquerque’s began their journey to Serbia at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, reportedly without issue.
The lawsuit states that the family then got on their second flight out of Atlanta, Georgia, when about two hours in, one of the family members felt as if she was being bitten, and noticed bed bugs crawling on her sweater.

“During the flight, everyone in the Albuquerque Family was bitten multiple times by the bugs that had infested the plane’s cabin,” stated the lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, the Albuquerque family developed raised and itchy welts, lesions and rashes.

Furthermore, the lawsuit states that due to the infested clothing and personal items, the family also had to throw away some of their belongings.
As a result, the Albuquerque family wishes to be compensated for their losses to the fullest extent permitted by the Montreal Convention.
