As usual, stars of all kinds headlined as Host and Musical Guest, and some sketches took on lives of their own online, but 2025 was also the year of SNL‘s 50th birthday. Very few TV shows get to make it to 50 years, and SNL celebrated the milestone with as many celebrities and callbacks as possible. We saw the long-awaited returns of Lady Gaga, Jon Hamm, and Melissa McCarthy, and former cast member Amy Poehler came back to play too.
Fan favorite Ariana Grande hosted an excellent Christmas show on December 20 with Musical Guest Cher, and the two divas helped to send the year off with a bang (and a bittersweet ending).

Is SNL new tonight, December 27, 2025?
No, the show is off for the holidays and will return on January 17. The last episode of 2025 aired on December 20 and was hosted by the stellar Ariana Grande.

Who is the December 27 SNL Host and Musical Guest?
Sabrina Carpenter!
NBC is re-airing Sabrina Carpenter’s Double Duty episode from October 18, 2025. The multi-talented performer and actress had performed as Musical Guest before and even appeared in a few sketches and cameos, but it was her first time hosting, and it’s fair to say she crushed it.
She played a teen boy host of the podcast “Snack Homiez,” sold an obscene pillow, played the ultimate girlboss, and had to keep a straight face when Ashley Padilla played a farting coworker. She even sang her hit “Manchild” into an actual hairbrush mic. We’re pretty sure we’re not the only ones hoping she’ll be back to host again very soon.

Who is the next Host and Musical Guest of SNL?
Finn Wolfhard and A$AP Rocky.
Wolfhard will be the first Host of 2026 on January 17, just a few weeks after the premiere of the final episodes of Stranger Things.
The newly 23-year-old actor has played Mike Wheeler on ST since 2016 and starred in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. He also played young Richie Tozier in It.
A$AP Rocky will make his SNL debut as Musical Guest, though he’s previously cameoed in the video “Friendos” with Season 43 Host Donald Glover. His next album comes out on January 16.
