GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – According to a notice filed with the SC Department of Consumer Affairs, 84,721 South Carolinians were impacted by a data breach at Marquis Software Solutions, Inc.
Marquis is a digital and physical marketing and compliance software provider that offers services to over 700 banks. FOX Carolina is working to clarify which banks may have been affected.
Officials reported that on Aug. 14, Marquis identified suspicious activity on its network. An investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed its network and may have accessed and acquired certain files from its systems.
On Oct. 27, Marquis determined that some customer data was included in the copied files.
According to the report, the incident was limited to Marquis’ environment and did not affect financial institutions’ internal systems.
