Cam Ward, Shough Impress Fans as Saints Top Titans in Game With NFL Draft Implications

In a battle of rookie quarterbacks on Sunday, Tennessee Titans No. 1 pick Cam Ward and New Orleans Saints starter Tyler Shough both lived up to the hype.

Ward and Shough had several “wow” moments as the Saints defeated the Titans 34-26, improving New Orleans’ record to 6-10 while Tennessee fell to 3-13. The loss keeps the Titans in the running for a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL draft with one week remaining in the regular season.

Shough recorded his second straight 300-yard game, throwing for a career-high 333 yards along with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He threw a go-ahead 10-yard score to Kevin Austin Jr. with 6:22 left to help seal the win.

Ward also impressed with 251 yards and two touchdowns. He made a few dazzling plays that excited the home crowd at Nissan Stadium on his way to becoming the first rookie in franchise history to throw for over 3,000 yards.

Fans on social media had nice things to say about both Ward and Shough throughout Sunday’s rookie showdown:

The Titans and Saints are both going through rebuilds, so they will need to continue adding more talent in the 2026 draft. Tennessee will have the opportunity to make a splash with a premium pick.

The Titans will close out the 2025 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, while the Saints will meet the Atlanta Falcons in Week 18.
