Maple Leafs’ Nylander out vs. Red Wings, day-to-day with lower-body injury

After exiting Saturday night’s win over the Ottawa Senators with a lower-body injury, William Nylander will not play in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported. He is listed as day-to-day.
Nylander appeared to suffer the injury midway through the second period after getting his stick tangled with Senators defenceman Artem Zub. He was able to skate off the ice on his own power, but went to the Maple Leafs’ locker room shortly thereafter.
Nylander had one goal in 8:25 on ice before he was forced to exit.
The 29-year-old has 14 goals and 41 points in 33 games, including Saturday, this season. He went 11 games without scoring a goal before potting two in the Maple Leafs’ final game before the holiday break.
The Maple Leafs will face the Red Wings on Sunday night at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Watch the action on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
