Reno police arrest three after shooting incident near Summit Ridge Park

Reno police are investigating an early-morning shooting on Saturday that sent a teenager to the hospital and led to multiple arrests.
Officers were called out around 4 a.m. on December 27 after reports of gunfire near the 900 block of Skyway Drive, close to Summit Ridge Park. As police were heading to the area, more callers reported hearing several shots near Highcrest Drive and Skyway Drive. One caller told dispatch they saw a vehicle chasing someone who was running through the park.
When officers arrived, they spotted a car speeding away from the area. Police were able to stop the vehicle near the intersection of 3rd Street and Vine Street.
Inside the car, officers found a 17-year-old juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound. Police immediately provided medical aid before the teen was taken to a local hospital. Authorities say the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Three other people inside the vehicle were detained, and officers later found multiple firearms inside the car — including one gun with an obliterated serial number. All three occupants were arrested.
Police identified one of the adults as 21-year-old Javier Casildo-Rios. He faces charges including obliterating a serial number on a firearm, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, obstructing and resisting, and reckless driving. An 18-year-old, Joran Chaudhary, was arrested on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A 16-year-old juvenile was also arrested on an obstructing and resisting charge.
Investigators say the case is still ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Reno Police Department or submit tips anonymously through Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
