Britney Spears Instagram post calls out family’s Christmas without her

Britney Spears is appearing to react to her family celebrating Christmas without her.
Amid a flurry of posts, the pop star seemingly responded on Instagram Sunday, Dec. 28, in which she captioned a photo of a Christmas tree with a sarcastic and pointed reaction. “Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix,” she wrote. “to my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon.”
On Christmas Day, Spears’ younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears posted an Instagram photo with her husband, Jamie Watson; her daughters – Maddie Briann, 17, and Ivey, 7; mother, Lynne Spears; and Britney Spears’ elder son, Sean Preston Federline. Spears shares sons Sean Preston and Jayden James Preston with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Kevin Federline breaks his silence on the ‘Free Britney’ movement
Kevin Federline chats with USA TODAY’s Ralphie Aversa about his memoir “You Thought You Knew,” which details his relationship with Britney Spears.
“I can’t wait …. hello, beautiful Ivy [sic] … I just want to hold you, my love … Godspeed, friends,” Britney, 44, added of Jamie Lynn’s younger daughter.
USA TODAY has reached out to Jamie Lynn’s reps for comment.
Britney Spears’ relationship with her family has fractured over the years amid the 14-year conservatorship initiated by her father, Jamie Spears. Though the conservatorship ended in 2021, Britney has publicly called out her family for what she considers their involvement in and failure to help end the conservatorship.
Jamie Lynn, 34, has denied the accusation, but the sisters have publicly feuded over the issue. In 2022, after Jamie Lynn Spears gave an interview discussing the conservatorship while promoting her memoir, Britney Spears reacted, claiming her younger sister was selling her book “at my expense.” Jamie Lynn Spears responded shortly after with comments also reflected in her book, about being put “at risk” due to her sister’s claims of being mistreated.
“It’s getting harder for me to rationalize to my oldest daughter why our family continues to get death threats, as a result of their aunt’s vague and accusatory posts,” Jamie Lynn said at the time.
