Bronx stabbing: 2 facing murder charges after deadly neighbor dispute in Highbridge, NYPD says

HIGHBRIDGE, Bronx (WABC) — Two people are now facing murder charges following what police say was a deadly dispute among neighbors over the weekend.

Police say 24-year-old Beyonce Johnson and 21-year-old Saleh Ceesay are charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of 30-year-old Shashamanie Thompson on Saturday night.

The victim and suspects are neighbors on separate floors of the same Ogden Avenue building and have had numerous disputes in the past, officials say.

Authorities say the victim went up to the suspect’s floor and a dispute erupted in the sixth-floor hallway.

As the two were arguing, Ceesay is alleged to have come up from behind and held Thompson against her will. Police say Johnson took out a knife and, as her accomplice held the victim from behind, stabbed her multiple times.

Officers responding to a 911 call found Thompson unresponsive with knife wounds to her face and abdomen.

She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Neighbors say they heard an argument before the killing.

“I heard a lot of yelling, somebody screaming ‘help me,” one neighbor said. “I heard them fighting, I heard her screaming for help, I wasn’t sure what floor it was on. It sounded like it was close but also like downstairs or something.”

There is no word from police on what the argument was about.
