Man City willing to sell Ake for over £21m

Manchester City would be willing to sell defender Nathan Ake in January, but the club’s valuation in excess of £21 million could hinder a move to Barcelona, according to Spanish publication SPORT.The 30-year-old has made just one Premier League start this term, largely featuring as a substitute while playing in all three of his side’s Carabao Cup fixtures.

Barcelona have been linked with the Netherlands international, with Andreas Christensen’s current injury status prompting the club to seek defensive reinforcements.

Sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick would appear to be at odds over the profile of player to target in this department.

The report from Spain reads: “Flick prefers a proven international player who can contribute immediately, while Deco is more inclined to bring in a developing player on loan with an option to buy, someone who has already demonstrated talent in Europe.

“Everything will depend on the economic conditions and the opportunities that arise, although the list of candidates is very short.

“Since Christensen’s injury, the sporting director has been working on possible options, but with limited funds and few suitable players, the chances of finding one are slim.

“Nathan Ake was one of them, but Manchester City aren’t keen to put him on the market and seem only willing to let him go for a transfer fee exceeding €25m.

“Ake’s name was brought up through intermediaries, and he is open to a move, especially if it opens up the possibility of playing for Barca. The main problem is that several English clubs have enquired about him.”

Ake’s City contract expires in 2027, making this potentially an ideal time for a permanent move.

Roma ready to offer Dragusin Spurs exit

Sky Sport Italia report that Roma are among several clubs showing interest in Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin, though it remains unclear whether Spurs are willing to sell the Romania international in the January transfer window.

Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport had already linked the former Genoa centre-back with a potential move to the Serie A side. Sky Sport transfer expert Marco Demicheli added on Monday: “It’s not an easy deal, and several clubs are ready to sign Dragusin if Tottenham were to sell.”

Dragusin’s fitness is still a concern, as the 23-year-old has been sidelined since January 2025 with a knee injury.

He returned to the bench against Liverpool on December 20 and came on as a second-half substitute in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in their most recent outing.

Chelsea face Disasi conundrum

Sky Sport Italia are reporting on another potential January exit from the Premier League to Serie A, with Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi being monitored by both AC Milan and AS Roma.Milan are set to target a central defender in the January transfer window, following their agreement with West Ham to sign German striker Niclas Fullkrug.

According to reports, AC Milan have identified Monaco’s Eric Dier and Chelsea’s Disasi as transfer targets. However, Chelsea have already reached the maximum number of players they can loan out abroad.

Milan are reportedly keen on a loan deal with an option to buy, the same arrangement that facilitated the signing of Fullkrug.

For Disasi’s temporary move to San Siro to go ahead, Chelsea would first need to terminate an existing loan abroad to make room.

Striker David Datro Fofana is currently at Turkish side Karagumruk, where he has scored five goals in 12 appearances. Three players – Mamadou Sarr, Mike Penders and Kendry Paez – are at Strasbourg, while defender Aaron Anselmino is on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Girona target Ter Stegen after Villa cool interest

Girona are reportedly ready to swoop for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen after Aston Villa’s interest eased off, according to Spanish publication SPORT.

Unai Emery is happy with his two goalkeeper options, with Emiliano Martinez his first choice and veteran Dutchman Marco Bizot his understudy.

Uncertainty over Martinez’s future last summer had alerted Villa to the possibility of replacing him with Ter Stegen, but the World Cup winner is now part of Villa’s surprise Premier League title charge.

SPORT claim: “Ter Stegen is now expected to join Girona, who will do everything possible to secure his services, and relations between the clubs are excellent. Keep an eye on this.”

The report also notes that centre-back Pau Torres will stay on at Villa despite interest from Barcelona.
