The future of “Wicked: For Good” at-home viewings is unlimited.
The second part of the “Wicked” film series will be available to watch on digital before the new year, Universal Pictures announced on Dec. 25. DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD editions will also be for sale in January.
“Wicked: For Good,” was released in theaters on Nov. 21, a year after its namesake predecessor, “Wicked.” The films, which star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, are an adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name, itself based on the book by Gregory Maguire.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the “Wicked” movies serve as a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz.” USA TODAY movie critic Brian Truitt says the film darker than its predecessor, but still a crowd pleaser with more “Wizard of Oz” references to boot.
