1 of 2 injured in fire at house tied to NASCAR driver dies

STANLEY, N.C. (WBTV) – One person has died in a large fire that originally burned two people in a home tied to a NASCAR driver on Sunday night.
The fire broke out on Dec. 28 at a home on Blacksnake Road in Stanley, a small town in Gaston County.

Firefighters from Gaston and Lincoln counties responded to the blaze, Lucia-Riverbend firefighters wrote on social media.

Two people were injured in the blaze at the time. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known, but Gaston County officials confirmed the next day that one person had died. The identities of the two had not yet been released by the time the death was confirmed.
The home was tied to a company owned by Denny Hamlin and his father, Dennis Hamlin, according to tax records.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation, as of noon on Monday.
