The final game of NFL Week 17 is an NFC contest between the 11-4 Los Angeles Rams, who are still fighting to improve their playoffs seeding having already qualified for the post-season action, and the 6-9 Atlanta Falcons, who have been eliminated from post-season contention.

The Rams suffered a costly upset in Week 16 when they threw away a big lead late on to lose to their NFC West rivals the Seattle Seahawks, while the Falcons have won their last two games against the Buccaneers and Cardinals after disappointing for much of the season.

Los Angeles Rams at Atlanta Falcons preview

The Los Angeles Rams are clearly one of the strongest teams in the NFL this season, but they suffered their fourth defeat of the season in baffling circumstances last week as they blew a 16-point fourth-quarter lead to the Seattle Seahawks before losing in overtime and handing their rivals the lead in the NFC West.

The Rams had looked the superior team for much of the game, posting 581 total yards against a strong defence, and they should have it in them to finish the job against the eliminated Atlanta Falcons without any similar scares.

Atlanta beat the Cardinals last week with veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins leading the offence, but they didn’t really cut loose against a vulnerable defence and should find the going much tougher against the Rams.

LA have not lost back-to-back games all season and have bounced back to win by seven, 14 and 28 points after their previous three losses.

After another reminder of the dangers of complacency, they should keep their foot on the gas at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
