Police urge public to avoid Portland stabbing suspect, call 911 if spotted

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland Police are actively searching for Richard Scott Stuart, 54, in connection with two stabbings that occurred on Christmas Eve.
The stabbings took place near the 3000 Block of Northeast Weidler Street and the area of Northeast 24th Avenue and Northeast Hancock Street.

A 20-year-old male and a 67-year-old male were both hospitalized with neck injuries but have since been released.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit have identified Stuart as the suspect and have obtained an arrest warrant for two counts of attempted murder and other charges.

Authorities urge the public to call 911 immediately if they see Stuart and not to attempt to detain him. He may be using public transportation, a Portland police spokesperson said.
