Chevy Chase has starred in so many iconic films, from Caddyshack to Spies Like Us and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. But the movie he’d most like to make a sequel to is Three Amigos, the 1986 comedy he shot alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short, Chase revealed at a fan event in Richmond, Virginia on December 29.
“Right now they’re busy on TV making that ‘I only have murders in my building,’” the 82-year-old actor joked of their hit Hulu show Only Murders in the Building, per People. “It’s a good show. Yes, it’s good, they’re good, but they really are lacking me.”

The trio “became friends very quickly” while filming Three Amigos out in Tucson, Arizona, Martin, 80, shared during a 2019 interview on the podcast, Nathan, Nat and Shaun.
“We hung out all the time, all the time together,” he said. “We were staying at a hotel and we’d have dinners together every night and we’d drive to work in the morning all in the same car ‘cause we had such fun. We’d laugh the whole way.”
Over the years, though, Chase became the odd amigo out.

“When our friendship was forming, we lived on the West Coast and he lives on the East Coast,” Martin explained of his bond with Short. “He had a bunch of family. I had no family at that time. And Marty became my child. It just didn’t work out.”
Hopefully, that can change.
“I miss them, that’s all I’m saying,” the Community alum confessed at the Q&A event. “I really miss them, they’re great.”
