Some services across Waterloo region and Guelph will be closed or have altered hours on Thursday and Friday due to New Year’s Day and some people getting an extra day off.

City hall will be closed for in-person services on Jan. 1, Jan. 3 and Jan. 4.
The outdoor rink in Carl Zehr Square at Kitchener City Hall is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. except for:
- December 31: 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. (midnight)
- January 1: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Community centres across the city are open on modified hours, with most closed on New Year’s Day.
The Aud is closed except for scheduled games on Dec. 30 and Jan. 1.
Waterloo
Offices at Waterloo city hall will be closing at noon on Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1.
The outdoor rink at Waterloo Public Square will be open on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, weather-permitting.
Most community centres will be closed at noon on Dec. 31 and will all be closed on Jan. 1.
Guelph
All city offices will be closed in Guelph on Jan. 1.
Guelph Transit will be running on adjusted schedules on Jan. 1. All administration offices will be closed as well.
The city is also reminding residents that waste collection on Jan. 1 will have a one-day delay.
