Canada name men’s roster for Milano Cortina 2026, including 2010 and 2014 champs Crosby and Doughty

Team Canada has become the first to announce their full 25-man ice hockey roster of players nominated for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, which will see the return of National Hockey League (NHL) players to the Olympic tournament.
Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Connor McDavid, Brayden Point, and Sam Reinhart had all already been named as the first six players on Canada’s preliminary roster in June.
They are joined by 19 others in wearing the Maple Leaf in Milano. Of the squad, only Crosby and defenceman Drew Doughty are already Olympians. Both won gold at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014.
There are Olympic debut selections for both 37-year-old Brad Marchand as well as 19-year-old Macklin Celebrini. Notably, Celebrini has been tearing up the NHL this season and ranks third — only behind McDavid and MacKinnon — in points heading into the new year.
Between the 25 players, they have won 22 Stanley Cups and eight IIHF World Championship titles. Nineteen of them were on Canada’s squad at the NHL 4 Nations Face Off in February 2025, which the Canadians won.
Canada won gold the last time the men’s Olympic ice hockey tournament included NHL players, in 2014, where they were captained by Crosby.
“I am honoured to be selected to Canada’s men’s hockey team together with so many great players and people, and I am excited to again have the opportunity to represent Canada in February and compete for a gold medal,” he said in a press release issued by Hockey Canada.
As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Winter Games, athletes’ participation at Milano Cortina 2026 depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at the Games.
