Florida Freeze Map Update as Nearly Entire State Under Warning, Advisory

Most of the Sunshine State is under a freeze warning or a cold weather advisory on Tuesday as a cold front pushes south.
Portions of Florida and the broader Southeast are facing a cold snap, with freeze warnings and advisories issued as a weather front propels temperatures far below seasonal averages. Such cold snaps are rare in Florida and can affect outdoor vegetation, infrastructure, and vulnerable populations unaccustomed to freezing temperatures.
NWS meteorologist Scott Kleebauer told Newsweek on Monday that seasonal average lows in the central and northeast portions of the state are in the mid- to low 40s.
The freeze warning takes effect overnight into Wednesday morning. It encompasses the cities of Lake City, Gainesville, Ocala, Leesburg and Deltona. The cold weather advisory covers swaths of the state, from the Panhandle to Orlando and coastal cities like Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Fort Myers, and Tampa.
“For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 23 expected. For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected,” the NWS warns.

NWS meteorologist Richard Bann told Newsweek on Tuesday that “people need to bundle up, especially for the southern part of the state where it is not as common for temperatures to get near freezing.”
“There is going to be enough wind if temperatures get to 40 degrees it could still feel like 25 degrees,” Bann added.
The NWS Melbourne office posted on X on Tuesday, saying, “12/30/25 | Heads up east central Florida! The Freeze Watch has been upgraded to a Freeze Warning across Lake and inland Volusia counties from 1 AM to 9 AM. Temperatures of 30 to 32 degrees will be possible. Protect sensitive plants, bring pets indoors, and check in on neighbors.”
The region is expected to see warmer temperatures by the end of the week, with lows in the 40s, Bann said. This updated freeze warning follows an overnight freeze on Monday, when northern portions of the state saw cooler temperatures.
