Fans are excited as The Night Manager returns to screens tonight. Season two of the BBC show has finally arrived nine years after the first one.

Tom Hiddleston is back as the former soldier turned hotel manager Jonathan Pine as his past once again returns to haunt him. The character had thought he had buried his past at the end of the first series, but a chance sighting of an associate of arms dealer Richard Roper will lead Jonathan on a dramatic new adventure for season two.

The BBC synopsis explains: “A chance sighting of an old Roper mercenary prompts a call to action and leads Pine to a violent encounter with a new player: Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos.

“On this perilous new journey, Pine meets Roxana Bolaños, a businesswoman who reluctantly helps him infiltrate Teddy’s Colombian arms operation. Once in Colombia, Pine is plunged deep into a deadly plot involving arms and training of a guerrilla army.

“As allegiances splinter, Pine races to expose a conspiracy designed to destabilise a nation. And with betrayal at every turn, he must decide whose trust he needs to earn and how far he’s willing to go before it’s too late…”

Tom is joined by fellow returning cast member Olivia Colman in the new season, which gets underway at 9.05pm on BBC One. Camila Morrone is one of the new cast members for season two and the 28-year-old can’t wait for fans to see the finished product.

She told the BBC: “If you like shows about danger, espionage, sex, betrayal, love, heartbreak, drama and suspense: The Night Manager is for you. I can’t imagine a person who won’t find something to connect to in The Night Manager. Think of all the elements that season one had, and just blow it up, that’s what audiences can expect of season two.”

Away from the screen, Camila was in a high profile romance with Hollywood star, Leonardo DiCaprio for five years. The model started dating the One Battle After Another star in 2017 and Camila defended criticisms of their 23 year age gap during while they were dating.

She told the Los Angeles Times: “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”

Camila also shared hopes she wouldn’t be defined by her romance with the 51-year-old. She added: “I think more and more now that people are seeing the film, I’m slowly getting an identity outside of that, which is frustrating, because I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating.

“I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.” The two split in 2022, which E! News reported was due to distance between the couple.

Camila is now in a relationship with American music video director Cole Bennet, who has collaborated with artists such as Eminem and Justin Bieber.

Camila’s relationship with DiCaprio isn’t her own link to the Hollywood elite as her mum previously dated Al Pacino. The Night Manager star is still close with the Godfather icon and said his words shaped her as an actor when she was cast in her first film.

She told the Late Late Show in 2018: “He is obviously a very established actor and I called him and said, ‘I never ask you for anything, I don’t know what to. I have a script in my hand and don’t know where to start.

“He said come over, we’ll have tea and we’ll run the script. I go to his house and I read this 120 page script for two hours. I ask what do I do, who am I, how do I cry. He’s like, ‘you’re fine, just act. Just be yourself. If you cry, you cry. If yo.u don’t cry, you don’t cry. That’s it. That’s acting.

“Just react to the act and you’ll be fine. He said, ‘You’re fine, you’re 19, no one cares’.”

The Night Manager season two starts tonight at 9.05pm on BBC One
