“It’s just that feeling of. I actually can’t sit down. When we got to the hospital they told me that I was 6cm, so great.

“Then they made me sit still for ages while they monitored me for 20 minutes, which was really infuriating.”

After 20 minutes, Giovanna said she had got up to go to the toilet, and while she was there she felt a sensation go over the bump.

She shared: “I thought that was weird. Everything felt different.”

The podcast host informed her midwife, who said she was ok to proceed into the birthing pool as she was having a water birth.

Giovanna, mum to Buzz, 11, Buddy, nine, and Max, three. recalled: “Turns out that I was 10 cm by that point. And I swear every time something was happening, I  felt him.

“I felt the baby go further down. I felt the sack pop. It was so animalistic.

“I had no control whatsoever, I just had to hold on to the side of the bath and let my body do its thing.”

She revealed she had clutched so tightly onto the bath that she couldn’t feel one of her fingers as she had “crushed it so much”.

Mum guilt

Tom and Giovanna, who were childhood sweethearts and at school together, married in 2012 and have three sons.

Speaking to Reveal, Giovanna has admitted that having pursuing her career and raising a family doesn’t come without its obstacles.

“I have a lot of mummy guilt,” she said.

“When I was growing up I always say myself as a full time mum. I thought I’d stay at home, bring up my children and just not work.”

She continued: “So there is a lot of guilt. It’s just a massive juggle and I think all mums experience it at some point.”

Admitting that she can get emotional, she revealed: “I do get overwhelmed sometimes and have a good cry.

“But once it’s out, I realise everything is doable if I take it one day at a time.”
