Lawmakers to consider Rising Star relocation in 2026

(RISING SUN, Ind.) – Indiana legislators could approve the relocation of the Rising Star Casino early this year.
The parent company of the casino announced in 2024 that it was considering a relocation to the Fort Wayne area.
The move requires approval from the Indiana General Assembly which did not pass the measure in January 2025.
Last month, an Indiana Senate committee unanimously approved Senate Bill 70 which would allow for the relocation to Fort Wayne or Allen County.
That bill is expected to be considered by the entire Senate during the upcoming legislative session.
The company’s interest in relocating from Rising Sun is due to falling revenues because of competing casinos in the Tri-State, and believes it would be more profitable in Northeast Indiana.
A Fort Wayne TV station recently published a story where they asked a few Rising Sun residents about the impact of the casino on the town.
