James Michael Tyler (Gunther)
James Michael Tyler was best known for playing Gunther, the bleach-blond barista at Central Perk who secretly loved Rachel. Appearing in over 150 episodes, he became one of the most recognizable recurring characters in the show’s history. He sadly passed on October 24, 2021, at the age of 59 after a battle with prostate cancer. Before his passing, he spoke openly to raise awareness about the disease.
Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing)
Matthew Perry portrayed Chandler Bing, the sarcastic but lovable member of the core Friends cast. He appeared in all 236 episodes and brought endless laughs and emotional depth to the role. He passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. Offscreen, Matthew was open about his struggles with addiction and wrote a best-selling memoir. His sudden passing left fans and friends around the world heartbroken.
