Rice safety carted off field late in third quarter against Texas State

Rice safety Daveon Hook suffered an apparent head injury in the third quarter Fort Worth-based game against Texas State.

Hook was attempting to make a tackle when a Texas State player’s helmet collided with his own. The senior from Cibolo fell face-first to the ground and remained unmoving as trainers made their way to the field.

Upon being placed on a stretcher, Hook showed an ability to move his arms around. The reserve defensive back has played plenty on special teams throughout his career and had 19 tackles (11 solo) and a sack over four games coming into Friday.
