When is ‘Severance’ season 3 coming out?

Three years passed between seasons 1 and 2 of “Severance,” so how long will fans have to wait for season 3?
“Severance” was renewed for a third season in March 2025. There’s no official premiere date just yet, but season 3 of “Severance” will likely premiere in 2027. The show is expected to resume filming this year.
Historically, “Severance” seasons have dropped the year after filming wrapped up. Season 1 premiered in 2022 after filming wrapped in 2021, and season 2 debuted in 2025 after filming wrapped in 2024. If season 3 finishes shooting this year, a 2027 release date would make sense.
During a November 2025 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Ben Stiller, who serves as an executive producer and director for “Severance,” teased that season 3 will be out “soon-ish.”
“It’s tough because people do love the show and they’re always like, ‘When’s the next season? When’s the next season?’ And it’s always, ‘We’re working on it.’ We’ve only done 19 episodes over five and a half years,” Stiller said with a laugh. “I think Young Sheldon’s done 600 episodes in that time.”
“Severance” fans may have to practice patience between installments, but if season 3 is anything like season 2, it’ll be worth the wait. The Apple TV series received a whopping 27 Emmy nominations in 2025, including Outstanding Drama Series.
Of those 27 nods, “Severance” won eight Emmys in 2025, including acting awards for main cast members Britt Lower (Helly R.) and Tramell Tillman (Seth Milchick) and recurring cast member Merritt Wever (Gretchen George).

“Severance” follows Lumon Industries employees who have undergone a procedure to separate their work memories from their personal lives. Their “innies” have no knowledge of their lives outside work, while their “outies” don’t know what they do for Lumon.
In addition to Lower and Tillman, “Severance” stars Adam Scott (Mark S.), Zach Cherry (Dylan G.), Jen Tullock (Devon Scout-Hale), Dichen Lachman (Ms. Casey), Michael Chernus (Ricken Hale), John Turturro (Irving B.), Christopher Walken (Burt G.), Patricia Arquette (Harmony Cobel) and Sarah Bock (Eustice Huang).
Seasons 1 and 2 of “Severance” are available to stream on Apple TV.
