Avelo Airlines reduces service at Wilmington International Airport

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Avelo Airlines will reduce service at Wilmington International Airport (ILM) starting in late January.
ILM announced Tuesday evening that this is due to a significant reduction in aircraft in Avelo’s fleet.
The airline will continue serving four destinations: Nashville, TN; New Haven, CT; Tampa, FL; and Washington, DC/Baltimore, MD from ILM. Other seasonal routes may return, ILM said.
Based on the Avelo’s route map, that would mean service has been cut to 11 destinations: Punta Cana, DR; Detroit, MI; Rochester, NY; Boston, MA; Philadelphia/ Wilmington, DE; Orlando, FL; Fort Lauderdale/Miami, FL; West Palm Beach, FL; Fort Myers, FL; Washington, DC-Dulles; and New York/Long Island, NY.
The cuts come just weeks after Avelo’s first international flight to Punta Cana back in December.
Avelo will contact impacted travelers directly about the service changes.
ILM says all affected destinations are served by other carriers, including American, Delta, United, Breeze, JetBlue and Sun Country.
