Tampa Bay Weather Forecast: Storms Sweep Through Tonight With Stunning Week Ahead

TAMPA, Fla. – Residents making Saturday evening plans might want to double-check their options, as a wave of stormy weather is set to sweep through the region before giving way to a picture-perfect week.

While Saturday starts with partly sunny skies and a comfortable high near 75 degrees, the weather will take a turn late this afternoon.

Forecasters warn there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms developing mainly after 5 p.m., bringing breezy conditions with south-southwest winds gusting up to 22 mph.

The real action arrives after sunset. The chance of precipitation jumps to 70 percent tonight, with showers and thunderstorms likely before 1 a.m. Rainfall amounts could range between a quarter and half an inch, so drivers should watch for slick roads. Temperatures will dip to a mild low of around 61 degrees.

Fortunately, the wet weather won’t stick around. Sunday kicks off mostly cloudy but will gradually clear up, leaving behind sunny skies and a high near 74. Winds will calm significantly, shifting to a light north-northeast breeze.

Looking ahead to the work week, the Tampa Bay area is in for a steady warm-up. Monday brings mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-76s. Early risers on Tuesday and Wednesday should watch for patchy fog before 9 a.m., but that will burn off quickly to reveal sunny afternoons with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s.

By the time Thursday and Friday roll around, summer will feel like it’s making an early comeback. Expect plenty of sunshine and daytime highs hitting 81 and 82 degrees, respectively, making for ideal beach weather leading into the next weekend.
