Former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has left supporters speechless after embarking on a musical venture. Diaz, who moved to Bayern Munich last summer, has dropped a track titled ‘La Promesa’, which means ‘The promise’.

The track has been unveiled in collaboration with Juanda Iriarte and Nelsen, who are amongst the foremost performers and representatives of champeta, an Afro-Colombian musical style and dance that hails from the Caribbean coastline.

In his maiden musical offering, the Premier League champion recounts the pledge he made to his parents about purchasing them a home and assisting them in leaving their former area behind. Diaz was careful to ensure his lyrics conveyed his deep appreciation for his professional football journey without any hidden meanings.

“Thank you, God, For giving me the blessing of playing football,” Diaz sings, incorporating verses like: “And being able to fulfil the promise I made to my parents And to my whole family, amen.”

As 2025 drew to an end, Diaz shared a heartfelt message with his followers on Instagram whilst revealing his latest single. He posted: “I close the year with gratitude. To God, for guiding my every step, giving me strength when things got tough, and never abandoning me.

“To my family, thank you from the bottom of my heart. For always being there, through the sacrifices, the difficult moments and every dream that seemed unattainable.

“None of this would be real without you. Every effort makes sense when you can give back to your loved ones at least a fraction of what they did to help you succeed. This song comes from the bottom of my heart, from the most sincere gratitude for what we have built together.”

He continued: “This is the result of a long journey of faith, work and love. A journey where God has worked in a great way and where my family has fought with me and for me.

“Everything I am and everything I have is thanks to that. Thank you, God. Thank you, family. Thank you, Nelsen Music and Juanda Iriarte, for believing, accompanying the process and making this project a reality, which is called: ‘La Promesa'”.

The music video shows Diaz performing in his residence whilst footage of strikes he has netted for Barranquilla FC, Junior de Barranquilla, Porto, Liverpool and Bayern are woven throughout.

Díaz also revealed his motivation behind pursuing a musical venture on the side. He explained: “Music is one of my hobbies and a way of expressing myself from the heart, something I do with great love and respect for the art. This project was born out of passion, from enjoying the process and connecting with you from another place.”

The winger has thrived in the Bundesliga since his switch from Liverpool. The attacker has netted 13 goals and provided seven assists across 22 appearances this campaign.

The 28-year-old scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists in 148 matches for the Reds, clinching the Premier League, FA Cup and two League Cups during his stint on Merseyside.
