Winter Storm Warning Issued for Avalon Ahead of Snowfall

(VOCM News)

It’s going to be a stormy start to the first work week of the new year on the Avalon Peninsula.

Environment Canada has warnings out for the Avalon Peninsula with 15 – 25 cm of snow in the offing. It begins late tonight and continues until about lunchtime Monday.

The western half of the Avalon including Trinity and the Placentia area, is forecast to get 10-15 cm while Clarenville is in for 5-10 and central and the south coast can expect about 5 cm.

To compound matters, winds will pick up on the Avalon to the 60-70kmh range, creating blizzard-like conditions at times.
