Elusive English musician starts new year with a pair of show cancelations

Unfortunately, Morrissey is ringing in the new year with another round of canceled concerts.

The esteemed singer-songwriter was due to perform a show at the Agua Caliente Casinos in Rancho Mirage, Cali., Saturday night, but the venue website announced the show is “postponed indefinitely” due to “an adverse reaction to a prescription medication.”

Morrissey also was scheduled to play a show at the Civic Theater in San Diego on Jan. 6, but the venue’s website now says the show is canceled. It does not appear the date will be rescheduled, according to the website.

Keep in mind these dates already had been previously rescheduled from early 2025. The Metro reported the prominent singer canceled 22 dates overall in 2025.

In September 2025, Morrissey canceled a pair of Ottawa shows after receiving a credible threat from a man on Bluesky. The singer also canceled his South American tour in November due to “extreme exhaustion,” as well as his first ever concert in the Dominican Republic in December.

Morrissey — fingers crossed — is slated to perform in San Antonio on Jan. 10.

Although you may not be able to see him live this week, it appears the former Smiths frontman will be releasing new music soon. Morrissey announced last month he had signed to Sire Records. The singer-songwriter then posted a list of 12 tracks on Christmas Day, indicating an album is coming.

No release date has been announced. The forthcoming album and the unreleased “Bonfire of Teenagers” album would be Morrissey’s first releases since 2020’s “I Am Not a Dog on a Chain.”
