Josh Allen injury update: Is Bills quarterback playing today?

Josh Allen will tell you his foot is all good, it doesn’t negatively affect him and that “it’s gravy, baby.”
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott is not going to end Allen’s consecutive starts streak cold turkey.
Allen injured his right foot against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16 and aggravated it in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17. Buffalo can potentially improve its playoff seed on Sunday.
“You’ve got to know, to get (Allen) off the field, you’re going to have to … I’m going to have to wrestle him,” McDermott said.
The Bills host the New York Jets at 4:25 p.m. Sunday.

Allen extended his consecutive starts streak to 135 games, including playoffs, by playing one play and then jogged off the field.
Allen took the first snap of the game from shotgun, handed the ball off to James Cook for a 10-yard run and then exited the game and was replaced by Mitchell Trubisky.
Allen owns the longest active consecutive starts streak by a quarterback at 135 games, made up of 122 regular-season contests and 13 playoff appearances. The streak is the ninth-longest by a quarterback in league history.
“He’ll be good to go for the game,” McDermott said his franchise quarterback earlier in the week.
Allen did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and was a limited participant Friday. He’s doesn’t have a game designation on the Bills’ final injury report.
Allen had X-rays on his right foot after the Bills’ 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The X-rays were negative. It’s the second straight week Allen received X-rays postgame.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Allen’s foot feels better now that it did before he played against the Eagles.
“Maybe in a slightly better spot than the early part of last week,” McDermott said. “We’ll just take it one day at a time and see how he does here through the week.”
Bills quarterback depth chart
- Josh Allen
- Mitchell Trubisky
Allen is second in the league with 39 combined passing and rushing touchdowns. His overall numbers are similar to his NFL MVP-winning season last year. His completion percentage has ticked up to 69.3% from 63.6% but his interceptions (6 to 10) and sacks (14 to 40) have also increased.
Because Allen is an ironman, Trubisky has only appeared in three games this season, completing 3 of 6 passes for 54 yards.
Buffalo had Shane Buechele on the practice squad all season until he was signed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ active roster on Dec. 22.
