Five men to replace Ruben Amorim if Man Utd boss gets sacked including club icon

MANCHESTER UNITED are on the hunt for a new boss after sensationally sacking Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager, 40, was on the brink after lashing out at club chiefs in a bombshell rant following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds.

And the Red Devils wasted no time in swinging the axe on Monday morning.
Amorim plunged his position into doubt as he launched his astonishing attack in his post-match press conference.
He complained about his “head coach” title and insisted he be referred to as the “manager”.
He also aimed a thinly-veiled jibe at director of football Jason Wilcox after a move for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo failed to materialise.

Amorim took charge of United 14 months ago and has done little to return them to their former glory.
He lost the Europa League final to Tottenham and finished 15th last season.
This season has seen some improvement on the pitch with United sitting 6th in the Premier League.
However, there has never been a consistent run of form under Amorim, who boasted a win percentage of just 38.71 per cent in his 63 matches.

Xavi
SPANISH legend Xavi has not been in the dugout since he was sacked by his beloved Barcelona in 2024.
However, he is still highly regarded, having led the LaLiga giants to a league and Spanish Super Cup double in 2023 despite financial constraints.
United would be free to talk to Xavi as he is currently a free agent.
Andoni Iraola
BOURNEMOUTH dealt with a summer of losing some of their best players such as Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi.
They could now face the prospect of seeing their Basque boss walk out on the club if United come calling.
Andoni Iraola led the Cherries to a ninth-place finish in his first season in the Prem and earned plenty of plaudits in doing so.

Oliver Glasner
GLASNER has been one of the most impressive managers in the Premier League since his arrival at Crystal Palace in 2024.
He has led the Eagles to FA Cup and Community Shield glory in his short time in South London.
The Austrian has previously been tipped for the top job at United if Amorim was to lose his job.

Eddie Howe
HOWE has come under pressure at Newcastle after a mixed start to the season, which sees the club sitting ninth behind Sunderland.
The Englishman has done great work at the Magpies, having established them in the top half following his appointment in 2021.
Howe would bring plenty of experience with him to Old Trafford, having started his managerial career nearly 20 years ago in 2008.

Darren Fletcher
THE former United star has taken over on an interim basis – but could he take the top job?
Fletcher is currently working as the coach of the club’s Under-18s so he could be in line for a promotion.
The retired midfielder spent 11 years playing for Sir Alex Ferguson at United and could bring some of the iconic manager’s Scottish charm with him.
