Volvo updates recall for rearview camera dysfunction for more than 40,000 vehicles: Transport Canada

Transport Canada has announced an update for an earlier recall that involved more than 40,000 units of Volvo’s newer cars and SUVs in Canada.
The newest recall, issued Friday, states that certain vehicles could be privy to a software problem that can cause the rearview camera images to not display when the transmission shifts into reverse.
“Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair,” the recall notice said.
The recall has listed models belonging to the automotive company that may be affected by the issue, including:
- Volvo C40 – 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo EC40 – 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo EX40 – 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo S60 – 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo S90 – 2024
- Volvo V60 – 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo V60 CROSS COUNTRY – 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo V90 – 2022
- Volvo V90 CROSS COUNTRY – 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo XC40 – 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo XC60 – 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
- Volvo XC90 – 2023, 2024, 2025
According to Transport Canada, the issue can affect a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle when backing up if the rearview camera image does not display.
“This could increase the risk of a crash,” the notice said.
Volvo will notify the owners of the affected vehicles by mail and send a “wireless over-the-air software update” to those vehicles to update their software, Transport Canada said.
Customers can also schedule an appointment to update their vehicle’s software at a Volvo dealership.
