The couple finally got a happy ending

Emmerdale viewers were left ecstatic as Robert and Aaron finally spent a romantic moment among the chaos.
Actor Ryan Hawley reprised his Emmerdale role as Robert Sugden earlier this year after six years away from the ITV soap. Robert was sentenced in 2019 for the death of Lee Posner, and he swiftly cut off contact with Victoria Sugden and ex-husband Aaron Dingle.
His return came as Aaron was set to marry ex-Army medic John Sugden, and although Robert attempted to get Aaron back his efforts were rejected as Aaron vowed to move on without him.
However, the couple found their way back together as John was revealed to be a serial killer and his long list of harrowing crimes led him to flee the country.
Just when Robert and Aaron decided to move on with their lives, Robert’s prison husband Kev Townsend appeared and put a stop to their relationship once again. However, Kev also left after Robert chose Aaron – and although he put up a fight, he found himself held hostage by John who also returned to the Dales.
John then tied Robert and Aaron up, and as the pair argued on how best to break free, Victoria arrived home to find John in her kitchen. He then held a syringe in front of her, promising it wouldn’t hurt.
Viewers saw Aaron pretend he was still in love with John before Robert broke free and tackled the ex-Army medic to the ground. He then grabbed the gun to point it at John, however, Aaron worried that Robert would kill again hit him over the head and shared a passionate kiss with John.
Pretending he wanted to run away with him, he offered to go with him before taking the gun himself and pointing it at the villain. Trying to get him to drive to Hotten police station and hand himself in, Aaron failed to take control of the situation.
Instead, John admitted that he wanted Aaron to know what it was like to lose control for a moment and let go of the wheel as they raced down country lanes away from Hotten.

Crashing the car as Corriedale started, John managed to escape and run away from the scene. Although Aaron also ended up being fine, it was a moment of romance between “Robron” that captured viewers’ hearts.
As the chaos continued around them, they jokingly discussed their former marriage proposals, with Aaron saying it’s Robert’s turn. Then, they did just that, agreed to get married after having been so close to being torn apart for good just moments before.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @devonbentleyxx wrote: “Aaron and Robert god I love them” as @ifeelflames added: “can’t believe we’re getting a Robron proposal in the year 2026”.
