Johnson joins Canucks as pro scout

Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced the appointment of Jack Johnson as a pro scout on Monday.

Johnson, 39 later this month, played 41 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2024-2025, the final season of a 19-year career.

A native of Indianapolis, Johnson was originally taken with the third overall pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

He was dealt to the Los Angeles Kings in the fall of 2006 and would go to make his NHL debut later that season.

Johnson would go on to appear in 1,228 contests for the Kings, Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks. The defenceman was a member of the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup-winning team in 2022.

For his career, Johnson scored 77 goals and added 265 assists.

Internationally, Johnson suited up for the United States on a number of occasions, including at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, where he won a silver medal.
