Playing styles and prediction

Apart from defending his Marseille title, it was a fairly disappointing season for Humbert which was reflected in his inability to defend final points at the Rolex Paris Masters due to injury. The Frenchman will now hope that changes as he looks to add some variety to his game to match his aggressive serving and will hope for more consistent wins on the board in order to elevate his ranking and make a return to the world’s top 30.

Norrie will aim to be aggressive on serve while being smart yet proactive on return, forcing Humbert behind the baseline and stepping inside the baseline to hit winners. Meanwhile, Humbert will aim to attack the net on serve and use the backhand to dictate play. This match will be an edgy match with this being their first competitive contest in a couple of months. The big yet consistent serve of Humbert may edge through here with both players feeling a bit rusty.

Prediction: Humbert in three sets.
