Vancouver Giants acquire Joe Iginla from Oil Kings

Jarome Iginla’s youngest son is on the move.
Joe Iginla has been traded from the Edmonton Oil Kings to the Vancouver Giants along with a conditional 2028 draft pick, the teams announced on Monday.
Heading back to Edmonton is winger Aaron Obobaifo and a conditional 2029 draft pick.
Iginla posted 11 goals and 10 assists in 37 games for the Oil Kings this season, dramatically improving his points-per-game average from 2024-25, when he recorded just 16 points in 61 games.
Currently in his second full WHL season, Iginla was drafted 12th overall in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
Obobaifo, meanwhile, put up 26 points (10 goals and 16 assists) for the Giants in 37 games this season.
Iginla’s old brother Tij is playing in the 2026 world juniors and is a Utah Mammoth prospect, having played junior hockey for the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kelowna Rockets.
