The careers of Draymond Green and Jordan Poole will always be intertwined after the infamous Golden State Warriors practice scuffle. Green recently brought the drama back into the news during his podcast when discussing Poole’s current team getting into a fight. The New Orleans Pelicans saw Jose Alvarado throwing hands with Mark Williams, and Draymond had to give his opinion.
Green said the following about Poole making facial expressions and not getting involved:
“If I’m in a fight and my teammate is standing behind and doing this (exaggerated facial expression), come on man. We can’t be doing that. David West used to always tell us if something goes wrong on the court, you go over there because you don’t know what’s going to happen. I ain’t saying you got to fight. What if those five guys jump on your one teammate?”
Poole was clearly being made fun of here since Green implied he looked silly by trying to stay away from the violent interaction. Green punching Poole in the past led to the latter’s relationship with the Warriors souring. Poole can’t be too pleased about getting brought back into Draymond drama, especially since he’s being accused of being a bad teammate.
Does Draymond Green Have A Point?
Fights rarely ever happen in the NBA since most players are separated before any real violence takes place. Alvarado and Williams had a rare moment of actual punches being landed to warrant both getting suspended afterwards. Poole reacted in the same way most would since players don’t have these scenarios happening often anymore.
Green could have a point if Poole was the only person not engaged in the confrontation or refusing to get physical. Poole could easily question Green for going out of his way to talk about his former teammate after they had such a hostile ending in Golden State.
The weekly basketball podcast of Green sees him talking about other players and various situations around the league. However, it looks bad when Draymond is taking petty shots at someone that he had issues with and was in the wrong regarding their drama.
Does Jordan Poole Dislike Draymond Green?
Fans often wonder if the relationship between Green and Poole is still negative. Green proves he doesn’t have much love for Poole with this quote, but it is mutual. Poole has discussed the past situation being difficult and doesn’t greet Green after games when he faces the Warriors.
Golden State received some criticism for their handling of the situation. Many feel that Green should have been punished harsher for hitting a teammate in practice and not being that remorseful. Poole also saw his career negatively impacted by the Warriors trading him away to end this time there.
Green’s quote confirms the two will have to deal with each other for the rest of their respective careers. Even when Green retires, his podcasting career will see him talking about Poole any time he’s involved in a big story. Poole unfortunately must deal with Green’s commentary on him not ending any time soon.
