Ethan Hawke shares Tulsa filming story on ‘The Late Show’

TULSA, Okla. –

Actor Ethan Hawke is sharing a humorous memory from his time filming a television series in Tulsa.

Hawke appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Monday, where he talked about working on the FX series “The Lowdown,” which was filmed in Tulsa and across Green Country. During the interview, Hawke said his daughter, “Stranger Things” star Maya Hawke, quickly became the real celebrity among local students.

‘Nobody cares about my dad’

Hawke told Colbert that he moved his family to Tulsa during production so his children could attend public school while he worked on the show.

While visiting the set, Hawke said director Sterlin Harjo asked his children if it was difficult having a famous father at their new school.

“They’re like, ‘It’s hard having a famous sister. Nobody cares about my dad. My sister’s picture is in lockers everywhere,’” Hawke said, drawing laughs from the audience.
