Uxbridge officer killed in overnight crash on Route 146

UXBRIDGE – A police officer was killed in a crash on Route 146 early Wednesday, Jan. 7.
The officer was assisting a motorist shortly after 12:30 a.m. when the crash occurred, according to Uxbridge police.
Road conditions in the area were slick overnight.
“This is a devastating loss for our department and our community,” Police Chief Marc Montminy said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the officer’s family, loved ones, and fellow officers during this incredibly difficult time.”
The crash occurred on the northbound side of the highway. Emergency responders rushed to the scene.
The road will be closed into Wednesday morning, with state police investigators on scene.
The officer’s name and details of the crash were not immediately released by authorities.
