2 stabbed on CTA Red Line station at 69th Street on South Side, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — Two people were stabbed at a CTA Red Line station Monday night, Chicago police said.
The stabbing occurred at about 10:53 p.m. at the 69th Street stop in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

Police said a man and woman were arguing with a suspect who pulled out a sharp object and attacked both victims.
The 37-year-old woman suffered a puncture wound o the chest and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, police said.

A 24-year-old man sustained a puncture wound to the back and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition, police said.
No one is in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.
This latest act of violence comes as the CTA is facing federal pressure to improve safety
The Federal Transit Authority rejected the CTA’s initial safety plan saying it didn’t go far enough to protect riders.
Federal transit officials are ordering the CTA to submit a new plan or risk losing federal funding.
