Jordan Shipley, ex-Texas Longhorns football star, in critical condition after being burned in ranch fire

Former college football star and NFL journeyman wide receiver Jordan Shipley suffered “severe burns” Tuesday in a machinery accident on his Texas ranch, officials said.
He was listed in critical but stable condition at an Austin hospital following Tuesday afternoon’s incident near his hometown of Burnet, according to a family statement released through his alma mater, the University of Texas.
“The machine he was operating on his ranch caught fire and although he managed to get out, it was not before sustaining severe burns on his body,” the family said.
“He was able to get to one of his workers on the ranch who drove him to a local hospital.”
Shipley, 40, played for three teams over three NFL seasons between 2010-12. Shipley’s rookie season turned out to be his most productive, making 52 catches for 600 yards and three touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals.
But he’s probably best known for his days on campus as the favorite target of Colt McCoy. In their senior seasons of 2009, Shipley reeled in 116 passes for 1,485 yards and 13 touchdowns as Texas went to the national title game.
