US immigration officer fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis, officials say

Homeland Security secretary says ICE officers were stuck in snow when woman tried to ‘ram’ thempublished at 18:50 GMT
Shortly before the news conference in Minneapolis, we heard comments from US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was giving remarks near the US-Mexico border.
Noem says ICE agents were carrying out an “enforcement action” in the city when their vehicles got stuck in the snow.
“They were attempting to push out their vehicle and a woman attacked them,” she says, adding the woman allegedly “attempted to run them over” with her vehicle.
The ICE officer “defensively shot to protect himself and the people around him,” she says.
The woman’s actions constitute “domestic terrorism”, Noem says, and affirmed her commitment to protecting ICE officers. In the last couple of days, she has deployed over 2,000 more agents to the city, she adds.
