Is There a ‘Monday Night Football’ Game on Tonight in Week 18?

“Monday Night Football” usually brings a breath of fresh air into the first part of the week after a day that’s usually filled with getting back to normal.

So, is there “Monday Night Football” to watch on TV on Jan. 5, in the NFL’s Week 18?

Is There ‘Monday Night Football’ on Jan. 5?

Well, instead of watching football, NFL viewers will have to simply start getting ready for the 2025-26 playoffs, because there’s no NFL game on Jan. 5. The league’s “Monday Night Football” is off tonight as the playoffs kick off.

But, the playoffs are just a few days away. the NFL’s wild-card weekend kicks off on Saturday, Jan. 10, with the Rams at the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. ET. Also that day, the Packers will take on the Bears in Chicago at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, the Bills play at the Jaguars 1 p.m. ET, followed by the 49ers at the Eagles, 4:30 p.m. ET and the Chargers at the Patriots at 8 p.m. ET. “Monday Night Football” returns on Monday, Jan. 12, with the Texans at the Steelers at 8 p.m. ET.

Then, the NFL’s divisional round begins on Saturday, Jan. 17, and continues on Sunday, Jan. 18. The AFC and NFC championship games are set for Saturday, Jan. 25, with the AFC Championship at 3 p.m. ET and the NFC Championship at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Finally, the Super Bowl LX will pit the AFC champion against the NFC champion at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 8.

Last season’s Super Bowl was a blowout, with Philadelphia’s 40-22 win over Kansas City, but the event still drew a record 127.7 million U.S. viewers across television and streaming platforms, according to NFL research. The game was televised by Fox, Fox Deportes and Telemundo, and it was also streamed on Tubi and the NFL’s digital platforms.

“Not only is it a 3% increase from last year, it is the second straight year the Super Bowl has reached a record audience,” the NFL notes. “The Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime victory over San Francisco in 2024 averaged 123.7 million on CBS, Nickelodeon, Univision and streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, the audience peaked at 137.7 million in the second quarter (8-8:15 p.m. ET).”

So, even though there’s no “Monday Night Football” on Jan. 5, there’s plenty of NFL action ahead.
